Google is trying hard to rival Facebook in the social realm but it’s going to be a long uphill battle with Facebook now claiming more than 750,000 Million active users! Facebook is the largest most visited online community ever. TweakMyDevice uses and supports Google’s products but…well good luck on claiming King of the Hill on this one.

There are quite a few differences between Facebook and Google Plus. Facebook has become very commercialized and full of marketing these days. While this can be beneficial in some aspects it clouds the user experience from what Facebook was designed to do…connect people in a digital space so they can chat about things and share experiences.

How Google Plus is Different

Google Plus is social space purity. There are no ads (for now at least), no viruses, no scams, and no games/horoscopes. You connect with people, share things, and see what they’ve shared. Simple and effective. There’s even a +1 button beside most things on the web today resembling a Facebook “Like”. You can even see someone’s Google +1 clicks in their profile and this gives you insight to what your friends think is important. You can upload pictures and create albums much like in Facebook, +1 others’ photos, and be tagged in photos. So what else is different?

Connect with people by adding them to your designated Circles. You can make a Circle for Family, Friends, Acquaintances, Co-workers, Business Contacts, etc. After adding someone’s email to your Google Contacts move them into the appropriate Circle. Now when you want to share something you can choose Public to go out over the entire Web, all of Your Circles to include everyone you know, or just a few of your private Circles…for example Family and Friends.

TweakMyDevice recently purchased an Apple developer spot on eBay so we could run iOS 5 on our iPhone4. The purchase and transaction was fast and smooth so we feel that paying less than $1 for a spot on Google+ is a safe thing to do. You have the assurance of eBay’s buyer protection, but still shop smart and check out your seller’s ratings and customer comments before you buy.

So let’s get more people on Google + and help build its numbers! Click on one of the pictures in this article to be taken to a current eBay page (at the time of this writing) where you can cheaply and quickly purchase your way into the exclusive domain that is Google Plus.
