Free Wireless Tether on Gingerbread

Want to use your built-in 3G Mobile Hotspot app on your Droid X 2.3 Gingerbread device? This hack gets around the account check and allows you to have free Wireless Tether of your Droid’s internet to any other WiFi device.

  • Use of ClockworkMod software. This allows for backup/restore of your Android system, as well as installation of custom ROM’s/themes.

    • ClockworkMod Recovery for Android

    • Increase your screen resolution by applying the LCD Density Tweak. This will allow you to see more information on your screen at one time. Since more can fit on one screen you can decrease the number of home screens you have from say 5 to 3. This will make your device easier to navigate and reduce some memory consumption.     • Flash your device-specific OEM factory “.sbf” file. This erases all data on the device (not storage card) and returns your device to an original firmware state with no tweaks. This will recover your device if you have installed something or performed a tweak that has left your device unable to function.
